The silence is over my friend and the wait is on…WIndows Server 8 Engineering Validation Program Airlift

In July of this year, I had the humble honor of traveling to Redmond, WA to the Microsoft Campus where I spent the week with about 99 other geeks from around the world the incredible technologists of the Microsoft Server Team.

I say technologists, but what I really mean is people.. Good.. Very Good, people…

My trip at the time was shrouded in secrecy, NDA’s, trench coats, and CIA operatives… Well maybe not trench coats and CIA operatives, but the NDA’s were and some points still are think and it was not a very noticed event nor was it public.

The trip started out as V-Next TAP, and finalized with after a week of hardcore learning at one of the Server Team buildings and Hands-On-Labs at the Enterprise Engineering Center on campus.

The take home trophy.. the glory… besides being the first to have classroom learning, hours of instruction,  and lab training was a bag.. a glorious shoulder bag that simply said… “Windows Server 8″ Engineering Validation Program Airlift – Microsoft Campus – July 2011.  Windows Server.”

The pinnacle of bookbags

My Bookbag from the Server Team at Microsoft For Server 8 Engineering Validation Program Airlift. Brian Bell - Taken July 2011

Needless to say.. The bag was NOTHING compared to the training I done got learned on Server8, and the learning was NOTHING compared to the people who pour their blood, sweat, heart, soul, and tears into Server.

I could write … YAY!.. Windows is great.. blah..blah..blah Woo Hoo.. They did a great job this go around, but ………that would be an understatement.. It would be an insult to a phenomenal product..

What I am about to say, I mean it with my entire heart and I stand behind this statement 1000%…

For years, we have begged Microsoft to listen to us as field engineers and consultants.  I think most us of at some point, time or another, felt a disconnect from the product and took an “it is what it is” attitude…. I can assure you my friends.. Microsoft HAS listened… Your Server Team.. Yes I said YOUR server team has listened.. They have heard every word we have said and Server8 by far, is the best Server OS I have seen and when you see it and experience it, you can feel the heart, passion, feeling, and soul this team has put into the product.

Part of what I am doing for Engineering Validation is running Server8 in production.. Yes.. full blown production… Pre-Beta..Pre-Release..Pre-Dev..

Out of all my servers, I can say that Server8 has given me no issues, and every day I expend the new features and capabilities of each server further and further on both stand-alone and Hyper-V.

I have phone access and support, 24x7x365 with Microsoft’s Server group and I have not picked up the phone once, nor sent in a HELP email or request since Server8 has been in production.. I don’t need to. Even Pre-Beta, it is that solid.

Over the next few weeks, as Microsoft discloses more features, I will blog not about Oooo here’s what you will get with Server8.. I will blog about what I am using, how I am using it, how it was implemented and give you my honest opinion.

I am under NDA so if Microsoft Server Team has not talked about it, neither will I.. Once a feature  is public knowledge by means of Microsoft release, and if I am running it in production.. Yep.. We’ll talk about it here… All day long…….

I keep hearing that Windows8 will change the way we work, think and produce. I keep hearing that Windows8 will change the world…

And you know what?

I know… that it will…………………..

I believe…, that it already has………
